MassMEP Launches ISO 9001 Collaborative for Small-Medium Size Manufacturers

ISO Collaborative Information Session: April 16

April 8, 2013 – Worcester, Massachusetts -- The Massachusetts Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MassMEP), a NIST-affiliated organization that helps the state's manufacturers transform and grow their organizations, is pleased to announce the formation of the MEP ISO Collaborative. Working in conjunction with Associated Industries of Massachusetts (AIM), the Collaborative is designed to help small to medium-size manufacturers improve quality, efficiency, sales, and profitability, as well as provide a path to ISO 9001:2008 certification. ISO 9001:2008 is an international quality management standard that demonstrates an organization's ability to meet customer requirements and applicable regulations through consistent processes and continuous improvement.

"ISO compliance has become a required credential for doing business with large companies around the world," said Jack Healy, MassMEP Director of Operations. "But the ISO certification process is a major undertaking, both in terms of human and financial resources. MassMEP has partnered with Associated Industries of Massachusetts to provide small and medium size companies with a unique ISO certification program that includes training and expert guidance at a reasonable cost."

The MEP ISO Collaborative is a workshop-based program that provides systems, documentation, and training, both in a classroom setting and on-site consultation for companies wanting or needing to comply with the ISO 9001:2008 standard.

"Our goal is to provide Massachusetts manufacturers with competitive advantages that help them streamline operations, reduce waste, and increase sales, here and abroad," stated Healy.

The MEP ISO Collaborative brings four to eight companies together to work toward certification. The program includes:

  • Seven off-site, one-day training workshops on quality management systems
  • Five to seven on-site consulting days
  • Gap Assessment of each participating company to set benchmark criteria
For more information on the MEP ISO Collaborative, an information session will be held on April 16, 10-11am. To register, https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/910372217
