Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships Hosts 2007 Leaders’ Summit -- "Energy Efficiency as a Competitive Advantage"

Business leaders, policy makers, and advocates from across the energy industry will assemble in Providence, Rhode Island, for second Annual Summit

Lexington, MA (5 February 2007) -- Energy costs are top of mind for people across the Northeast region as we struggle to balance increasing demands with environmental stewardship. Nowhere is this issue more relevant than at the second annual Northeast Energy Efficiency Summit, where business leaders, policy makers, and advocates will gather to shape the face of energy efficiency for the coming years. Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP) will focus this day-long conference on Energy Efficiency as a Competitive Advantage, involving leading policy, government, and business leaders who are putting energy efficiency to work in their businesses, municipalities, and states.

The 2007 Northeast Energy Efficiency Summit will be held on May 10 at the Westin Hotel in Providence, Rhode Island. It will feature a full day conference with speakers and panel presentations. An all-day exhibit area will showcase the latest energy efficiency technologies and solutions, from household products to innovative business systems. An evening dinner event will celebrate business leadership in energy efficiency.  Throughout the conference, the Summit will encourage policymakers, business leaders, and community members to adopt policies and practices that significantly increase energy efficiency in homes, buildings, and industry.       

Conference Co-Chairs

The 2007 Northeast Energy Efficiency Summit is being co-chaired by NEEP’s Board President, Penni McLean-Conner, vice president of Customer Care for NSTAR Electric & Gas, and Kurt Adams, chairman of the Maine Public Utilities Commission. The Summit chairs are joined by a steering committee of regional leaders in policy and business. 

Program Overview

The daylong conference proceedings will feature keynote, lunch and closing speeches by leading experts in the energy efficiency field. Panel presentations and discussions will focus on best practices in public policy to advance energy efficiency to support economic growth and development in the Northeast as well as business application examples of how energy efficiency is working as a competitive advantage. The Summit will conclude with an evening dinner celebration of regional business leaders who have implemented energy efficiency measures and investments in order to gain a competitive economic advantage across a variety of industries.

Exhibition

To compliment the conference presentations and discussions, the Summit will feature an exhibition of more than 30 leading-edge providers of energy efficiency products and services for the residential, commercial, industrial, and government sectors. Past exhibitors included Constellation Energy Group, Green Lite, Groom Energy Solutions, ICF International, Lockheed Martin/Aspen, MaGrann Associates, the Resource Link and Shell Oil.
